Olivia + Jacob | A Classic Wedding at The Tutwiler Hotel

“She didn’t fight for a day. She didn’t just fight for any day.  She fought for TODAY.”

Even just typing that sentence spoken by her officiate gives me chills.  Olivia contacted me in 2017 to begin planning her wedding.  Unfortunately we had to put planning on hold as a heart defect she had lived with her entire life began to make her very sick.  In 2018 she received a lifesaving heart transplant.  In 2019 she said she was ready to start planning again.  And on March 14, 2020 she married the man who has stuck by her side in sickness and in health, even before they said I do.  I have never been so honored to to have been able to witness a wedding day as I was to witness this one.

Olivia is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside.  She has beautifully classic style, and I loved being able to incorporate that style into her wedding day.  Olivia selected the iconic Tutwiler Hotel and it was the perfect place to design a timeless wedding day and celebrate her marriage!  We kept her color scheme classic with mostly whites and greens and a few pops of blushes and blues.  It was perfect!  Some of my favorite design elements were the beautiful ceremony design and the stunning cake display.

But more important than the design, was the incredible emotion that was felt by every single person at this wedding.  Throughout the entire day, I thought about Olivia’s story and what an incredible miracle it was that we were even at her wedding!  When her mom was helping her put on her dress, I thought about the day she found out about Olivia’s heart defect and how she must have wondered if she would ever get to help her daughter put on her wedding dress.  When her parents walked her down the aisle, I thought about how happy they must have been to be able to give away their beautiful and healthy daughter.  When Jacob and Olivia became husband and wife, I thought about how much they have already been through and because of that I am positive that they will have an incredibly beautiful and strong marriage.

Olivia and Jacob’s wedding was just as beautiful and fabulous as all of our incredible bride’s weddings are.  But the miracle of life for this sweet bride made this a day I will truly cherish for the rest of my life.  Olivia, I can’t put into words how honored I am that I was able to plan such an incredible and special day with you.  Thank you for trusting me with such an important task.  You are such a brave and strong woman and I am so happy to have had the privilege to get to know you.  I am confident that you and Jacob have many many beautiful, happy and healthy years ahead and I can’t wait to cheer you two on!
