Becky's Brides is a Birmingham, Alabama based wedding planning studio creating joyful weddings full of Southern hospitality. Thanks for stopping by.
When I first met Ashley and her mom, I knew that Ashley and Carlos’s wedding was going to be incredibly special. Ashley is genuinely sweet and caring, not to mention absolutely beautiful, and she is quite the fashionista. Every time she walked into my office, she looked like she stepped off a runway, and I knew that she was going to bring a unique style to her wedding day.
Ashley had a very unique vision for her wedding, and I knew it was going to be like something we’d never done before. The vision for her wedding was to combine classic with modern, and thanks to Birmingham’s best vendors her wedding was exactly that. The goal was to keep the ceremony classic and traditional, so Canterbury United Methodist was the perfect place for Ashley and Carlos to say I do. Ashley wanted to really bring in the modern twist to the reception, and Birmingham Museum of Art was the perfect place for that. Design Productions draped the entire museum giving us a completely white canvas to work with. With a blank canvas to start with, Ashley envisioned bringing lots of colors with the flowers…basically an explosion of color, which HotHouse Design Studio brought to life. We kept everything else white – the linens and the chairs and the lighting – so the flowers really popped against the white. It was AMAZING!
Esthetically and logistically I have WAY too many favorite things to list, but I’ll try to narrow it down to my absolute favorites! Ashley’s custom dress by Heidi Elnora was high on my list of favorite dresses I’ve ever seen. The way the dress moved was absolutely stunning and made for the most beautiful photos and it flowed so beautifully as Ashley and her father walked down the aisle together and again when Ashley and Carlos made their entrance into the reception. Speaking of their entrance to the reception…hands down this was my favorite ever! The winding staircase at the reception makes for the most royal and epic entrance I’ve ever seen. My absolute favorite floral detail was the 32 foot floral installation over the head table. The installation was FULL of colorful tulips and against the all white in the museum, it made one of the biggest statements I’ve ever seen. It was incredible to watch all the guests enter the museum and see their mouths drop when they saw that. Some of my other favorite details were the bridesmaids bouquets which HotHouse managed to make classic for the reception in all whites, but with a modern twist, the stunning cake from Olexa’s with each layer separated by beautiful pink blooms, the watercolor stationery that set the tone for a colorful and modern affair, and the surprise live event artist that Ashley’s mom surprised them with at the ceremony AND reception.
Ashely and Carlos (and Mr. and Mrs. Ezelle), I cannot thank you enough for allowing me to work with your family on such an incredibly special day. I truly was so excited every time I got to meet with you all and plan such an amazing day. I can honestly say that planning an event this special and unique was truly a highlight of my wedding career and I’m so honored I got to plan it with you! Wishing you so many years of love and laughter and a beautiful marriage!
