At Becky’s Brides, we strive to guide our brides and her families throughout the whole wedding planning process, doing our very best to ensure that no mistakes are made. If you’re newly engaged or close to your wedding date, we hope that these tips will keep you from making some costly mistakes. We’re sharing 5 mistakes brides make and most importantly, how to avoid them!
You DIY too much: We love a good DIY project as much as the next girl, but there needs to be a limit when it comes to your wedding day. Don’t overload yourself with a list of projects when you already have so much on your plate! Leave it up to the professionals to handle the big aspects of your wedding (i.e., florals, photography, catering, etc). This is your time to sit back and enjoy!
You crash diet: Stop! Don’t do this! Instead of completely cutting out sugars and carbs and whole food groups a few weeks before your wedding day, start with a healthy food and excerise plan at least six months out. The last thing you need to worry about on your wedding day is feeling faint or your gorgeous dress being far too big!
You don’t add “wiggle room” in your budget: There will be things that come up in your wedding planning process that you didn’t account for. That’s why we always suggest figuring in at least 10% into your budget for unforeseen costs. From dress cleanings to cash tips, there’s always something that will pop up that you need to be prepared for.
You stress about the little things: Many brides acknowledge that there was at least one thing in their wedding planning process that didn’t go as expected. The key is to not let that ruin the best day of your life! Relax and take in every moment because at the end of the day, you’re marrying the love of your life and that’s all that matters.
You don’t plan on hiring a wedding planner: No matter how organized and on top of planning you may be, the stress sets in as the wedding gets closer. Missed details arise and brides are scurrying through binders and papers instead of soaking in every minute with their family and friends. If full-service planning just isn’t in the budget, avoid the stress by hiring a month-of planner. Hiring a planner will ease your mind so you can enjoy being a bride.
